This video will be covering the Punisher story, Kingdom Gone. The blurb on the back of the book for this story states

An obsessed killing machine fuelled for revenge, The Punisher hunts down criminals who elude the laws of man to subject them to a far more primitive form of Justice.

In Kingdom Gone, The Punisher travels to a tropical paradise to track down a powerful and elusive drug kingpin and finds himself in the midst of a military invasion by American armed forces. To reach his target, the death’s head warrior must battle his way through two armies, the drug lords and the united states government.

The story is very simple, Frank Castle hunts down an evil drug lord named Greaves. He manages to escape the Punisher and escapes to a tropical island, where he does more evil things like blackmailing the island's president and taking a local woman as his plaything against her will. This creates a slight dilemma for the punisher, as he needs to figure out, how to get into the country and get to Greaves while there is a U.S. Military presence in his way.

This is a very standard Punisher story and doesn’t do much with the character. There is a bad guy, the punisher hunts him down, and that is basically it. The Punisher himself also comes across as very two-dimensional in this story. The character of Greaves is generically evil, and it is almost like the writers have shoehorned him into the plot. Every possible evil thing that a villain can do, is just in this story to make him a worthy villain, but the reality is that he is very forgettable.

Once you have finished this story, you will forget all about the character of Greaves.

I wouldn’t say this is a bad story, as far as older Punisher stories go,. You get a villain and the Punisher hunts him down, killing people on the way as he does. It’s the most basic of Punisher premises, it works but it's not interesting, and you will get that with any Punisher story. What is missing, are characters and depth, and at no point is there any threat to the Punisher, succeeding with his mission. This story could have easily been shortened down and used as filler between bigger story arcs in the main punisher series at the time. I would personally give this story a miss, you won’t be missing anything important with the character and there are much more interesting punisher storylines to sink your teeth into.
